Day 1

I've been breeding mice now for about 8 years, and I've gotten many interesting varieties. If you're interested in breeding your own beautiful varieties of mice, or you just want to see what my pets come up with, take a look at my newly started blog. I have four mice right now that haven't been bred yet because I just got them.

First Mouse:

Female
At least 8 months old
Black with white tip on tail
Tiny white hairs occasionally
Black eyes

Second Mouse:

Female
At least 2 months old
Multicolored satin fur -> black, brown, yellow, with a black/brown undercoat
Black eyes

Third Mouse:

Male
At least 2 months old
light silver/grey with white around the feet
Red eyes

Fourth Mouse:

Female
At least 8 months old
Orange/tan with white spots and white forehead
Porcine tail
Red eyes

Hopefully all 3 females will become impregnated, and I'll be able to see what color babies are born. A lot of people, especially women, tend not to like mice for some reason. I never understood this, but I would assume it's because of old cartoons showing women jumping up on stools and screaming at the mouse. Unless its poisonous, I'm not afraid of anything that's smaller than myself, and don't see why other people are either. Pet mice are clean, intelligent and cute, and easy to take care of! Although most pet mice only live to about 2 years old, I have had one mouse who lived for 6 years with some sort of abdominal tumor on her.

For more information, check out this site, which I will probably use when I eventually figure out what genes my mice carry: http://www.geocities.com/mousedomousery/genetics/genetics.html
